Entrepreneur Shot During Beta Testing
It's true. Look at the picture.
You know you are a true entreprenuer when you are willing to take a bullet for your product. The man in the photo, a bullet proof vest maker, is. This is a great photo. If I had a higher quality copy, I'd give it to every entrepreneur I've worked with.
Bonus question: Which silicon valley restaurant used to display this picture prominently? For some reason they moved it a few years ago. Luckily a friend had taken the photo for me.
Thanks Linus, thanks Anna.
Update: Click on the image for a larger view of the photo

Could you possibly make the photo downloadable? Thanks Baris.

Mae,
Right clicking on the picture should do it. It worked for me. If it doesn't for you let me know and I'll send it to you.

I'd guess Bucks in Woodside.

I've seen the video described -- I think it used to be on their website. It shows Peter Fabian, the company's CEO, standing behind a pane of glass coated with the company's security laminate. They fire a gun at the glass. It doesn't break; the CEO chuckles and walks away.

Cool, I didn't realize that clicking the photo above goes to the original bigger photo. Baris, is that photo on your Home's wall?

Yes, the right answer is indeed Bucks!

I thought this picture was great. If only entrepreneurs today would be so confident of the products they sell. If anyone is interested, I cleaned up the picture and placed it on my site to download at www.411webdesign.net/clean.gif

AMAZING! :D

You need real confidence in what you have created to *LITERALLY* stand behind your product like that
Inspiration to all of us I'd think - don't just be passionate - believe.

According to the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center's Selection and Application Guide to Personal Body Armor (PDF link) (TXT file link):
"One of the first documented instances where such a vest was demonstrated for use by law enforcement officers is detailed in the April 2, 1931, edition of the Washington, D.C., Evening Star, which reported on a vest demonstration for members of the Metropolitan Police Department."
(Note: the text from this publication seems to have been used in a number of other online ventures, from body armor websites to about.com entries.)
I don't know if that means that the photo isn't of an entrepreneur, but you should be able to get an original of the image and article in a news archive of the Evening Star.

That's awesome. There's another product that has been tested similar to this - and it's quite new.
SawStop
Apparently - the guy really did test this on himself. Scary.

I bumped into this site from Digg.com. That picture you have on your site is really neat! I love the fact that entrepreneurs are willing to give up their lives for a product that they created/invented!
There are many entrepreneurs that I feature on a site that I like to promote: http://ventureBlogster.com. Just like your picture, people on this site make sacrifices to get their product to market.
